5 Things I learned about myself while running a dōTERRA business

1️⃣Fear and discomfort are NORMAL. Being afraid to step into something new is quite normal. It actually means you are right where you are supposed to be. It's learning to lean into the discomfort and that doesn't mean you are dying {lol} even though it may feel that way.

2️⃣I don’t have to be like everyone else AND I can be comfortable in my own skin and the person God created me to be. I used to do a lot of comparing and despairing in the early days. Thinking I had to prove myself since I was not educated in business or how to run a business. I have learned to LOVE all the beauty in each person/leader because their gifts are reflections of God. I have learned to collaborate with other leaders and use our skills collectively to create beautiful outcomes. This is so freeing!

3️⃣I don’t have to have all the answers. I used to think I couldn’t step into anything without being a freaking expert on it.

4️⃣Time Blocking. This little skill has changed my life.

5️⃣I learned that direct sales doesn’t have to be icky. When I started using doTERRA it was because the oils they had were the best oils I could find. I was very particular about what I used on my family. However, I had no intention to “sell” or be the next “Mary Kay” lady. Never say never friends! I ended up sharing about oils with my family and friends who wanted what I had because they saw the difference it was making in my children who never needed medicine. So began the journey of “selling” even though I refused to say I was selling. I was helping others find solutions to their problems. We have the most lovely community of like minded individuals to collaborate and hang out and do life with. I now have an incredible business, time and financial freedom and a mission that stems far beyond my years of life. That. That is an incredible feeling!

We love to stay on the 4x4 beaches so we don’t go out to eat very often and the crowds can be tough to deal with.

$Diagnosis = Level 3 HPA Axis Dysfunction Basically the effects of chronic stress lead to this diagnosis I was unfortunately recently given by my functional Medicine doctor. @the_ultrawellness_center Does it surprise me? Not really. Stress is something that likely plagues you too. Am I right? Stress is either perceived or real. Your body is incredibly amazing and its a gift to have this response. It was made to save your life. But save you from a Tiger or bear. Unfortunately, in todays world you and I both have this response way more than we should in our day to day. Does the rat race of work, trying to be everything to your kids, spouse, relationships, pressures plague you too? It’s pretty likely you are in some level of HPA Axis dysfunction. So what can you and I do? Here are a few simple things I am learning as well as adding a few additional supplements to my regime. Reduce Caffeine. I know I about died too! I still have some coffee in the morning but switched to @drinkmudwtr in the afternoon. Smell/diffuse Rosemary Oil - there is actually a pubmed study about how effective this is! Quite fascinating! I have been so drawn to this oil lately which was quite ironic! Reduce stress with yoga, movement, regular sleep Get sun exposure - in healthy amounts. 20 mins in the early morning is golden! Control Blood Sugar levels by eating proteins and greens and avoiding a lot of starches. Eat at regular intervals Sleep - your body needs time to heal! This unfortunately is a slow process - therefore the reason I am coming to you today. Awareness is key. Many of us {including me at times} think we are invincible and can keep going. Incorporate a few of the ideas above and if you are super curious about where you fall the Dutch Plus Test complete with Cortisol Awakening Response is the Kit I used to test my level. It’s a very comprehensive test and just takes some urine and saliva samples to complete. This beautiful soul @lauraking331 is one of my favorite people.

We met through an ironic set of connections and she became my business partner.

Never did I imagine the beauty of our partnership would go way beyond a business relationship and turn into a special friendship.

Laura is literally one of my favorite people. She is so funny, raw, honest, transparent and just makes you feel like you are her best friend. She has a gift to make others feel seen + important.

Are you hiding indoors because you are a victim of the yellow haze floating around outside aka “pollen”.

Itchy red eyes, sneezing, walking around miserable? Is that you?

Here are a few hacks for you to get feeling better!

Hack #1 Apply 1-2 drops lavender to your facial cream. Concentrating around the eyes. You see lavender is a natural antihistamine. Your histamines are acting like the Tasmanian devil right now. We need to calm that crazy down.

Hack #2 Drop lavender under your tongue. To enhance it - add 2 drops lemon and peppermint in a shot glass with a tiny bit of water.

Hack #3 Find a local honey source. Make “Lavender Honey” by putting 1/2 cup of honey in a small glass jar and mixing in 20 drops of lavender oil. Take a spoonful 3x a day.

Happy Friday! Who’s ready for the workweek to end? 🥴

I can actually say I love to work. Like I really love it.

So unless I created boundaries around my work time I would work all weekend long! Yes - I’m super boring sometimes! Any other Enneagram 3’s out there?!?🙋‍♀️

I am in the thick of building a website for our customers so that they are served at the highest level, with all their resources, education + connection in one place!

I’ve also created a streamline system for my business partners so that they can start changing lives with systems in place to work their business with ease.

This is where my creative juices get flowing and I am inspired to get up early every morning. Do you feel this way in your life? Love what your doing? Ready to dive in to creation and changing lives every day?

SOAP Bible Study. Have you ever heard of this?

If I am honest. When I read my bible my mind will sometimes wander. And after reading a few paragraphs I’m like what in the world did I just read?!?

Please tell me I’m not the only one who does this 🥴

2 things that have helped me.

I use my Ancient Oils of Scripture diffusing beside me to ground me
3 drops Frankincense
1 drop Cistus
1 drop Galbanum

This is one of my favorite blends. Knowing these oils are mentioned in the Bible and used during this time helps me feel closer to the word.

Next I have been using the SOAP method. I got my first SOAP bible study volume III. It was the only edition left in stock and ironically the one I needed! The first chapter focused on PEACE! My friend Polly who owns Horacio Printing just said she
is restocking all 3 editions next week. So I’ll be getting Volume 1 + 2! 🙌

Let me explain what the SOAP method means and how it helps me focus on the word + apply it.

SCRIPTURE - First you read a bible verse. In our book, the verse is printed inside.

OBSERVATION - Write down your personal observation about this verse. We invite you to meditate on this verse and soak in the meaning.

APPLICATION - How can you walk it out? How can you apply this verse to your life today? Can you apply it to the way you love, lead, forgive, or look at the world today?

PRAYER - Finally you write your prayer to the Lord.

It’s just beautiful and simple! If you’ve been struggling with Bible time I encourage you to try out some of these ideas that have worked for me!

What’s your purpose? Do you want ever wonder, “why on earth was I placed here at this time in history?”

This question actually has played in my head like a broken record most of my life. I think there must be one solid answer. I have been on a mission to know exactly why God created me, what my job is to do on this earth and what impact I’m to make. But do you want know what. I’ve been trying to do all that. I’ve partially allowed God in to help me find that purpose. I didn’t do it intentionally. I just thought I was doing it right.

Recently as I’ve been diving into @polly_payne Dream Crafting Course + understanding so much more about how big our God is. I realized I’ve been doing it all wrong.

Let me explain, I’ve been trying to force all the details. So I surrendered to God saying “I will focus on you, I will rest in you, I will rest in your peace and let you take care of the details about the day to day, life, relationships + business. I don’t need to worry about those things when I have you.”

I’ve been more peaceful, things are happening that I’ve tried to fix for years just by handing it fully over to God- and not just half-way handing it over. In the past I would say “God has it” but I don’t fully mean it - I was still controlling it🙈or so I thought was.

Don’t get me wrong I still put in 100% + God is blessing me with his 100%. I am working very hard in many areas of my life but I’m doing it in a peaceful non-hustle way. I’ve been incredibly blessed to be a part of @thekristenboss Mastermind Group that has challenged me + forced me not to revert to old ways of hustle + control. I’m doing the work but I’ve partnered with God. He continues to put people in my path and life, just when I need them.

So while purpose is such a huge part of our mission in life I think part of the mission is the journey of discovering it.

If you’ve been in a season of searching for purpose in this life. You are trying to control all the things, do all the things to find it. Maybe all you need to do it is partner with God.

Rest in him to take care of of the details and keep showing up every day. 🖤

Meal Planning. The one thing that starts my work week off with ease.

Why is it that when I don’t know what I’m making for supper I get all grumpy and entitled like, “why in the world am I the only who can think ahead about the fact that people need to eat something for dinner!?!”

I try really hard to meal plan on Sunday so I have a guide for the week.

It doesn’t always happen so since I actually did the thing yesterday, I thought I would share my weekly meal plan with you - just in case you are looking for some inspo!

Monday: Fish Tacos
Tuesday: Stuffed Peppers, Potatoes + Carrots
Wednesday: Beef Enchiladas
Thursday: Steak + Grilled Veggies
Friday: Homemade Pizza
Saturday: Chicken Pie

I use recipes from @thefoodnanny + use some traditional recipes from my family and google recipes.

Having a plan eases my mind and if that’s you too then here is some encouragement to map out your week + sync your grocery shopping with your meal planning. 🖤
